Shifting issues on a brand new truck

Anyone else having trouble shifting out of park on a brand new truck? Mine's only got like 130 miles and about half the time it wont go into drive or reverse on the 1st try, even with the brake pressed and everything done right. Its going in tomorrow for running boards, so I'll have them look at it too , but is this a common issue or just my truck?

Yeah some new trucks can have shift interlock issues early on, especially if the brake switch isn't syncing perfectly. Good call having them check it while it's in the shop. What did they say?

yep, definitely not normal, my cousin's truck had the same thing last month. you're right to get it checked out ASAP.
That sounds like a shift interlock issue or potentially a faulty brake light switch. The truck isn't seeing that the brake is fully depressed, so it won't release the shifter.
Good thing it's going in for the running boards anyway, make sure they prioritize that shifting problem!

It's probably an issue with the brake position sensor calibration or a problem with the interlock solenoid. The transmission control module isn't getting the correct signals for pedal engagement, which is stopping the gear from shifting. Since the mileage is low, this should be covered under warranty

Okay, so it seems like there might be a problem with how the brakes and the gear shift are talking to each other. Good thing it's covered under warranty, and even better that they're checking it out while the car's already at the shop
