Hill Descent Control light blinking

I got a question about the Hill Descent Control of my 2024 AT4 Sierra 1500. I just picked it up brand new so I'm still learning its quirks, no judgment please.

I was playing around with it on a trail last weekend and noticed that when I engage the system, the button light turns solid but the icon in the instrument cluster flashes. Is that normal? The truck was holding speed just fine on the downhill section, so I'm thinking it's just telling me it's actively working, but I wanted to make sure it's not a malfunction. It seems like sometimes it's solid and sometimes it's flashing, so I'm a little confused. Thanks for any insight!

That button light means Hill Descent Control is turned on, while the flashing icon in the cluster means it working to hold speed. Is the truck's braking and control felt smooth to you? If yes, then it's all good.

As @Big-East9745 you're all good and have nothing to worry about, especially if you're seeing the system is working to control the decent without any inputs from you. One thing I learned with these modern vehicles is that as soon as the ECU notices something's off, you get a cel. Your washer fluid is low, cel. There's a hole in the block, cel. So as long as you don't see that light, you're golden.

a little tip, you can usually adjust the target speed while HDC is active using the cruise control buttons (Set/Res/Accel)
